Staff of Healthy

A Pinwheel Garden was assembled in front of Center for Children, La Plata location. Standing with the garden are the staff of Healthy Families. The Pinwheel Garden is a national campaign by Healthy Families America to recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. There are 121 pinwheels in our garden to represent the 121 substantiated cases of Child Abuse and Neglect that occurred in Charles County during 2010. Initiatives like Healthy Families which provide support to at risk families have been shown through research to reduce the incidence of child abuse and neglect. For the 121 cases in Charles County, Healthy Families made 0 reports to CPS in 2010 among families enrolled.
