REHABILITATION SPECIALIST

Job Title: Rehabilitation Specialist
Department: Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Charles (La Plata)
Reports to: Coordinator of Community Support Programs
Date: March 1, 2012

Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist will be responsible for conduction their job in conformity with the Center for Children’s Policies and Procedures, with state and county guidelines, and with professional ethical standards.

Specific duties shall include, but not limited to:
- Assisting the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) Director in the development and implementation of rehabilitation services that reflect the need of the minors served by the program
- Assisting the PRP Director in overseeing the rehabilitation needs of all Program consumers, ensuring that consumers’’ rehabilitation and service needs are addressed in their Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRPs)
- Assuming administration responsibilities in the absence of the PRP Director
- Compiling statistics and requisite information for the preparation of quarterly reports
- Conducting initial assessments, including initial documentation required by COMAR regulations, for referred consumers, and ensuring that authorizations for the initial assessments have been obtained from Value Options
- Conducting assessments every six months with families; and ensuring IRPs are updated every 3 months
- Writing the rehabilitation plans for submission to Value Options; contacting Value Options, as necessary, to discuss issues relating to treatment plans and levels of service
- Assist with the collection of outcome measures such as Satisfaction Surveys
- Provide supervision, training, and education of direct care staff on providing rehabilitation activities and documentation of implementation of the IRP interventions to PRP consumers
- Maintain an active caseload by meeting with consumers individually to address clinical concerns or psychiatric emergencies. When necessary, facilitating referrals to outside agencies; developing behavioral interventions, as needed, to address specific consumer needs
- Conduct psycho-educational groups to youth and families enrolled in the PRP program
- Carrying a cell phone at all times, responding to pages from staff/consumers, and instructing staff/consumers as to how to respond to the situation at hand
- Other duties as assigned

Primary Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attending regularly scheduled clinical meetings and general staff meetings.
- Attending administrative supervision meetings as scheduled.
- Assisting other staff in the training of volunteers.
- Assisting other staff in the training of outside community professionals.
- Providing information to the Clinical Director regarding service needs of primary and secondary clients
- Representing the Center at meetings and/or on committees as requested by the Clinical Director.

Education and Skill Requirement:
Maryland (MD) State Licensure (LSWA, LCPC, LGSW, etc) with Professional Insurance

Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require 45 hour work weeks, weekend and or evening and occasional overnight travel. You are required to keep your MD State license and professional insurance current at all times. Reliable Transportation required.


THERAPIST

Job Title: Therapist

Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director the therapist is responsible for providing quality therapeutic services to the client they serve thorough proper evaluations and treatment plans, and to ensure that the needs of the clients are met and maintained on an individual basis and in accordance with policies, procedures, and current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations

Primary Direct Service Responsibilities:
- Providing individual and group counseling to children and adolescents.
- Providing clinical evaluations in cases where abuse has not yet been determined.
- Providing assistance to parents and secondary clients as related to the needs of the primary child clients.
- Providing support and educational groups to parents on as needed basis..
- Coordinating services with other agencies involved with individual cases.
- Providing crisis intervention counseling as needed
- Testifying in court and/or other legal proceedings on behalf of the child client upon order of the court and when privilege is waived.
- Advocating for clients with other service agencies as needed.
- Providing accompaniment services for clients as needed.
- Recording and maintaining client records in a responsible manner.
- Providing Center information (policies) to clients/parents/guardians and ensuring that responsible adult has understanding of and signs appropriate Center information forms.
- Submitting client statistics to the Clinical Director as requested.
- Attending multi-disciplinary team meetings.
- Following state child abuse reporting guidelines.
- Submitting a written report to Protective Services upon disclosure of an abuse.
- Maintaining and advancing clinical skills through training opportunities and professional in-services as the budget allows.
- Receiving clinical supervision from available Center consultants.
